The Beauty In Accountability

Ever heard the phrase "forgive and forget"? Yes? I'm sure we all have. But let's be honest, how easy is this? If it is even possible at all.
Sure enough, if the offense is small, like an unkind remark made en passing that you somehow 'accidentally' heard. In a few days, weeks, months maybe, one can easily forget this offsense. But what if you were defrauded of 10 000 that you saved up as a student in a year, money you needed for an urgent matter. As a child of God we may forgive yes, but forgetting is honestly not as easy as saying "now I will not remember any of this", especially if the scars are the still visible.
.
This week was beautiful. I learnt that, not only do I still need God's divine intervention as far as being a forgiving person, but I also learnt that forgiving truly is freeing and that maybe by doing this regardless of how worthy the person is may bring them to repentance.
Someone hurts you, but never apologises or takes accountability, you forgive them anyway, Even though it hurts and one day they come back, seeing how forgiving you are, how you never brought up their offenses, but laughed with them as though all is well (even though it still hurt) and one day, they realise their wrongs, come back to apologise and allow themselves to be held by you as they embark on a journey hoping to come out a better person. I honestly never thought I'd see this day, but I am so glad I did. God is amazing!
Now thinking back to that, I think of how God does it everyday, literally every second. Being offended and then forgiving, letting it go like nothing ever happended. Is it not beautiful to witness. May God help us to show grace to others, the same measure as we receive from Abba.
Also I'm just excited to be someone's accountability partner lol. Excited to see where the journey leads and just sit back and watch God work.
Thank you for joining Unspoken Gist. I hope yours will be a frequent visit. With love and anticipation.
