Rollercoaster ride

A series of events regularly repeated in the same order,

A complete series run in succession,

Simply put, a dreadful yet recurring series of events.

“We repeat what we do not repair.” -Christine Langley Obaugh

I believe one of the most annoying things in this life we live has to be cycles, especially when it is something that one has tried to put an end to countless times while failing miserably. Whether it be a bad habit you have chosen to discard completely or it simply be the unfortunate occurrence of bad events that seemingly target you, no matter what you do. Cycles can leave you feeling cornered, weak, and helpless with nowhere to run at times.

I have, for a couple of years now found myself in some vicious cycles, if I may say so myself. In all honesty, these have and continue to weigh down on me and knowing some of these are in no way my fault makes it even more dreadful. Being a child of God and knowing our Father has already stated the world has preset tribulations that we cannot avoid, but we must overcome them because he already overcame them on our behalf (John 16:33). Despite this assurance and confirmation that we ought to have confidence in, sometimes it seems as though these trials were not evenly distributed and I took the bulk of them.

Truth be told, at certain lows, sometimes I'd rather stay there and not come back up again but I know this is not the will of The Father. Some say, there are lessons to this and I then say, as The Creative, why not teach them in other ways? But, as they say, it takes you reaching rock bottom for you to realise that Jesus is The Rock at the bottom. I am certain that with due diligence, we will see an end to our cycles and find peace and rest in Christ once again.

The challenge is to not fix our gaze at the storm but to praise God through it (Isaiah 61:3). To let go of all control and let God handle it (1 Corinthians 2:9). To stand firm in our faith and prayer (Philippians 4:4-7). And to trust in God through it all (Proverbs 3:5-6).

May God help us all.
