I Had A Dream

Erma Bombeck once said,

"When I stand before God at the end of my life,

I'd like to have no bit of talent left, then I can say,

God I used all you gave me."

They say to dream is to believe,

In some cases, I can't say the same

Like a madman chasing wind

Which soon after disappears

So my dreams have vanished

Into billions of dust particles

Trampled upon by pedestrians

Shattered, destroyed,

Like a window damaged by a violent wind

Broken in pieces, soon to be thrown away

A dream I had. frowned upon

As if it would destroy me,

A dream forced upon me

As if it would make me

In Seth Godin's words,

"The only thing worse than starting something and failing...

Is not starting something."

Today's dream implemented,

Is tomorrow's future.

You shouldn't be compelled

To live a life you weren't born to.

Well, Ralph Waldo Emerson once said

"Do not follow where the path may lead.

Go instead where there is no path

And leave a trail."

Because of his dreams, Joseph was hated by his own kin

Displeased by the thought that he'd one day rule over them

They sold him into slavery.

Yet what was meant to destroy him, built him up to second in command

Slavery was his pathway to freedom

In a single dream

A voice sought to be heard

A wish in need of direction

Hope to create a brighter future

I had a dream...

That our dreams were more,

More than a delusion

More than a mere illusion

A reality.

I had a dream...

That my dream became a reality,

It raised the bar and set a record,

Soon to be followed by all those determined

Moving against the current

I HAD A DREAM.
